Bitovnja

South-west and west from Sarajevo, there are many beautiful mountains like Vranica, Zec, Matorac, Pogorelica, Vitreuša, Ivan and Bitovnja. Mountanieers like to go to mountain Bitovnja since, because once you are on top of the highest peak Lisin, you shall have opportunity to view large number of mountains in the central part of Bosnia & Herzegovian, especially mountain Prenj.


Over Bitovnja leads the transverse mt.trail Bitovnja – Pogorelica – Vranica which connects Kreševo with Fojnica.

Bitovnja is hydrographical watershed of the Black and Adriatic Sea. Upon it springs rivers Željeznica and Black River (Crna Rijeka), which are tributary to Bosna river (Black Sea), Trešanica and Kraljušice, tributary to Neretva and Jablaničko lake.


The mountain is rich in water and many springs. Up on the 1500 m altitude is mixed conifer forest and highest parts are pastures.
