Josip Vancaš designed the project for the church and the seminary in 1895.
The church was dedicated to Cyril and Methodius and was consecrated in 1896. It is located between two wings with which it makes a single entity.
The church in fact is in the shape of a cross, the intersection of which is covered, as in St. Peter’s in Rome, with a dome, which dominates not only this church complex, but also the surrounding ambiance. Since this church was built in the neo-renaissance style, there is no architectural connection with the early-gothic cathedral located only 150 meters to the south.

St. Cyril and Methodius Church
The interior of the church is richly decorated with alters made in baroque style on gilded surfaces, valuable frescos, paintings from the life on St. Cyril and Methodius, and other valuable paintings of the life of Jesus Christ and the holy Mother of God.
After World War II, in the Socialist system, the western block next to the Musa Ćazim Ćatić street, served as secular student housing, while in the eastern bloc a Catholic theological seminary existed.
According to the lates design for the city planning for Logavina I, a library and reading room should be added to the eastern bloc.
This sacred complex also, at the time of the siege of the city, suffered significant damage.
