On the 24th of October 1946, at the great hall of Fiskulturni Center at Sarajevo (popular „Fis“), joint venture made of sport society „Sloboda” and “Udarnik” resulted a newborn Sport Society “Torpedo”, where idea for such a o name came from Šefik Maglajlić, who came back to Sarajevo, impressed by the quality of same-named soccer team from the Mosow, Torpedo.
Still in august of 1947, on the proposal of Mirko Ostojić, editor in charge of “Oslobođenje” newspapers the club was renamed into “Sarajevo”, and had its official independent birth on 20th of May of 1949.
A few times in its history during the Yugoslavia Sarajevo had been relegated to second division, but always had a good return. Relegations happened in seasons 1947/1948, but returned the very next season, and another 1957/1958, when again after one season in second division Bordo (dark red) Team had returned and very soon had made great successes.
Sarajevo won the major Yugoslavia soccer league twice. The first title came in season 1966/1967, and another 1884/1885.

FK Sarajevo, champions generation
The great years for this team started to happen with its most popular player in charge, Asim Ferhatović Hase, where after few year near the top in season 1966/1967 Sarajevo won the league and played cup finals against Hajduk from Split, which the “Bordo Team” lost.
The good season resulted Sarajevo to be qualified between 16 best European teams at European Cup, where Sarajevo had been eliminated from later champion Machester United.
Later the years that followed were not that successful for this team.
Another peak happened in years that followed the 1974 when as eighteen-year old, and later all time best player of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Safet Sušić Pape arrived to Sarajevo. With Safet in charge Sarajevo domination lasted for 7 years, where "Bordo team" was always near the top of major championship.
Another reward came a bit later, in season 1984/1985 when FK Sarajevo for the second time won the major Yugoslavia championship.

Horde Zla, FK Sarajevo fans
Regarding the successes that came after the aggression of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo had won two championships of B&H, the first in 1998/1999 (today discussed by many, since the playoff never took place due on the subject of problems about FK Velež home stadium) and another one in season 2006/2007.
Today FK Sarajevo is team with one of the most beautiful sport history in the city of Sarajevo.
