Buying stuff, shopping, globally spending money in Sarajevo, even though it is a cheap city comparing the region, or Western Europe, requires a lot of knowledge to spend your money wisely.
After all it is not all about the money, but about the pride, and not letting somebody make fool of you, etc.

Here we shall list couple of suggestions how to behave at “spending money” occasions:
- Always ask for a receipt. That is the way you will know the right price of the stuff.
- When asked the price, check up if it is spoken about EUR or KM (National currency), since the EUR to KM is 1:2 (actually 1:1.95). Big difference.
- Always ask the TAXI driver to turn the taximeter on.
- Always be aware of false goods, and stuff, so double check what are you buying.
- In the café bars, always look after what you drink, because waiters are not always as honest, as they should be.
- When buying the souvenirs, it is not a bad idea to see if there is possibility of some discount, because the first price for a tourist of very much not the real one. Also look for more offers, since there is almost always better offer.
- Always buy a ticket in the public transport, and put it in the machine (validate) if needed, and always have some change to buy it. Couple of advises regarding, the thefts, rip-offs, being robbed, etc.
- Be always aware that perhaps pick-pocketing master are observing.
- Do not put much valuable stuff in your rucksack.
- Do not leave big bags or valuable stuff in your car, when parking on open areas, or non-guarded parking spots.
- There are baggers in the streets of Sarajevo, so beware of your acts, which can drive their attention, such as: giving away the money, unwisely taking out wallets, etc.
- Take care about your cameras, hanging down on you back.
- If something of these thing happen look for the nearest police department and report the issue.
